In July 2022, Lumi Lasers & Aesthetics was born out of a desire to create a welcoming, inclusive environment to promote women and men to feel comfortable and beautiful in their skin. After spending numerous years as a 911 dispatcher, Lydia Kafader found herself in need of a more flexible schedule as a single mother. Motivated by her daughter and supported by her loved ones, she made the decision to pursue a new path in esthetics, specializing in laser treatments. As she completed her training and obtained certification, a vision began to form within her—a place where everyone could feel embraced and comfortable.
Lydia completely gutted and renovated the current Lumi space herself with the help of family and friends. She has worked diligently to create a welcoming and affordable shop with a variety of services. There is something for everyone at Lumi Lasers & Aesthetics, and they are always learning and adding on to their service menu. The name Lumi stems from “lumen” which represents the measure of emitted light, and here at Lumi Lasers & Aesthetics, they want their clients to shine.

Originally from Illinois I moved to Indiana in 2015. I began my journey in esthetics after falling in love with getting eyelash extensions. I started doing lashes in 2019 after the birth of my daughter, MaKenzie, having to take a step back from being a 911 dispatcher. In 2020 I was given an opportunity to learn cosmetic laser treatments and tattoo removal and jumped at the chance to expand my skill set. In 2021 I craved more knowledge and dove head first into getting my esthetics license at Don Roberts School of Hair Design. While attending school I flew out to LA and became certified in multiple areas of permanent makeup from Elite Permanent Makeup. In 2022 my dream of creating a place that all are welcome without judgment providing a wide variety of luxury services at an affordable price became a reality by opening Lumi Lasers and Aesthetics. I have a constant desire to learn and am currently pursuing my massage therapy license at That Massage School. I truly love what I do and couldn’t ask for a better group of women to work beside and push each other to be the best we can be.
Esthetician
I received my esthetics license in 2021 after completing school at Don Roberts School of Hair Design. I love everything about my profession and the opportunity it has given me to build meaningful relationships with clients. I continued my education after school by becoming certified in lash lift and tint, brow lamination and tinting services, and nano/microneedling. I am always adding to my knowledge of ingredients and products to help my clients get the best results from facials and their at home skin care regimen.
PA-C
Originally from New York, I graduated from Hofstra University in Long Island, NY in 2007 and have been a PA-C for over 15 years. I have experience in primary care, sports medicine, and aesthetics. I have been certified in cosmetic injections including Botox and dermal filler since 2016 and expanded my certifications to cover advanced injection sites, Kybella treatments, and cosmetic laser procedures. I love being a PA and especially love aesthetics because I can help people look and feel their best! I have a passion for learning and am eager to continue to learn the latest in aesthetic practices and be the best cosmetic injector I can be.
RN
I was born in Texas, and raised in Chicago. I have been a practicing RN for 49 years. I have enjoyed working in the Recovery Room, ICU, CCU, ER, Pediatrics, Cardiology, Hospice and as a School Nurse. I am dual licensed in Illinois and Indiana and in 2022 became certified in cosmetic injections such as Botox and dermal filler. I have a passion for exercise, nutrition and all things health. I am married with 2 children and am blessed to be working with my daughter Lydia at Lumi. My favorite part about being a nurse is building relationships with clients and helping educate others on the benefits of vitamins and nutrition.

Since graduating esthetic school in 2024 from Tricoci University of Beauty Culture I’ve immersed myself in the world of esthetics. The ever-evolving beauty industry has captivated my interest in staying on top of the latest trends, techniques, and innovations to give my clients the best experience and results. I continued my education after school by getting my certification in brow laminations, lash lift and tints, and becoming a certified laser technician!
